The Vinh Moc tunnels are really interesting and worthwhile seeing, so we have designed this trip to offer you a simple, comfortable and convenient way of seeing them enroute to Hue, without breaking the bank. Previously, most people would travel to Hue by train as the cost of a private car to Hue was very expensive, so most travelers would miss the tunnels. We’ve made this transfer as cheap as we can, and when you take into the cost of the train tickets and taxi to the train station (with an english speaking guide at Vinh Moc and entry fees included), this transfer is great value and allows you to make more of your travel day. It stops off at the Tunnels, where you meet up with a guide who shows you around. The bus also stops at the Ben Hai River museum, which has simple, effective displays laid out like a timeline.

Vinh Moc (Vịnh Mốc) is a tunnel complex in Quang Tri,Vietnam, built to shelter people from the intense bombing of Son Trung and Son Ha communes in Vinh Linh county of Quang Tri Province in the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone. The villagers initially dug the tunnels to move their village 10 meters underground but the American forces designed bombs that burrowed down 10 metros. Eventually against these odds, the villagers moved the village to a depth of 30 metres. It was constructed in several stages beginning in 1966 and used until early 1972. The complex grew to include wells, kitchens, rooms for each family and spaces for healthcare. Around 60 families lived in the tunnels; as many as 17 children were born inside the tunnels.

The tunnels were a success and they limited the loss of life in the area.

The Ben Hai River Museum or The Museum of the 17th Parallel and Dreams of Reunification, a small but informative museum located on the Ben Hai River, which was the divide between North and South Vietnam.
